This spreadsheet contains graphs, summary stats and a bibliography of past papers and milestone papers.

The most recent milestone releases were the powerful language model GPT-2 (Feb 2019), their findings on optimal batch sizes (Dec 2018), and the Dactyl robotics system (July 2018).

By year, we have the following milestone counts:

2019: 1 (as of April 4)

2018: 6

2017: 9

2016: 1

In the same period, they published 76 ordinary papers, and even more blog posts.
